Survey on Inclusive Workplace

In March 2021, ReCDI conducted a survey at a company that actively employs differently abled people and aims to create an inclusive workplace. We team up with management consultants specialized in employment support for people with different abilities, to help create an inclusive workplace there.

Seminar on Inclusive Education in Bhutan and Sri Lanka

"Exploring the Role of Special Schools in Providing Inclusive Education in Bhutan and Sri Lanka"

We hosted an international seminar on inclusive education in Bhutan and Sri Lanka with Kumamoto University. The seminar explored the role of special schools which are on the recent wave of inclusive education in Bhutan and Sri Lanka. Two principals and a senior programme officer from the Ministry of Education, Bhutan, and three principals of special schools in Sri Lanka were invited. A total of 92 participants from five countries joined the seminar.

"Inclusive Education, Its Origins, Practices, and Policy Acceptance by Teachers: A Case from Bhutan and Japan"

Focusing on inclusive education in the Kingdom of Bhutan and Japan, seminar was about the history, practice, development, and future issues of inclusive education policy, as well as the values given by cultural and social values. Participants from all walks of life, including social workers, managers, office workers, homemakers, students, and concerned parties, had a lively discussion.

"Mental Health Care in the Community: Experience in Trieste, Italy, a Country without Mental Hospitals"

Outline: The Bazaglia Law in 1978 led to the closure of mental hospitals throughout the country, marking a fundamental shift to community mental health services in Italy. This year, the 40th anniversary of the Bazaglia Law, we invited a psychiatrist from Trieste, a city with one of the best community mental health services in Italy, to talk about the current state of mental health services, the philosophy behind it, and the meaning of mental health care in society.

Outline: Dialogue is not a mere "conversation," but a dynamic pluralistic process of listening to the voices of others and going through changes in the process.
In the seminar, we learned about the principles of dialogue and how to put them into practice from Dr. Arnkil, the founder of "Future Dialogue" and Dr. Heino, the leader of "Family Group Conference" for supporting children, both from Finland.
